Defending Men's and Women's Basketball Champions University of Connecticut selects StatMonitr for 2014-15
STORRS, CONN. -- The University of Connecticut and StatBroadcast announced today that the school will use the StatMonitr media stats system for its remaining athletic events during the 2014-15 academic year.
The University of Connecticut, known as UConn, is a public research university located in Storrs, Connecticut. Founded in 1881, it has a current enrollment of more than 30,000 students and is a member of New England’s Knowledge Corridor. The UConn Huskies are members of the American Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division-I FBS level and sponsor 20 varsity sports.
The UConn basketball teams are coming off dual NCAA championships in 2014, a feat that no other Division-I school in history has accomplished and one that UConn has now done twice (2004). UConn has won 18 NCAA national team championships, with the women’s basketball team leading the way with an NCAA record nine championships (including two consecutive) and four from the men’s basketball team (the most of any school in the last 20 years). The women’s team also owns the longest winning stream in NCAA college basketball (men’s or women’s) history, notching 90 consecutive wins between 2008 and 2010.
Connecticut is the second university from the state to partner with StatBroadcast and the fifth member of the American Athletic Conference (former Big East). With the addition of UConn, the last eleven NCAA men’s basketball champions now partner with StatBroadcast for their statistics technology.
